Meet Caroline — Alternative Wedding Dress Designer
I'm Caroline, an alternative bridalwear designer and maker based in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire. I create bespoke gothic, whimsical and unconventional wedding dresses for brides who want something with personality, rather than a dress dictated by tradition.

I'm a left-field thinker, rock and rave music lover, fitness addict, mum of four and devoted Labrador owner.
I compromised on my own wedding dress
I loved my wedding dress. I made it myself, with a friend’s help, and it was beautiful.
But secretly, I wanted something completely different.
I wanted a red dress.
Instead, I designed around the bridal conventions of the early 2000s, and what I thought would keep everyone else happy.

Years later, I realised I hadn't really compromised on a dress.
I’d compromised on myself.
And I’ve never forgotten that.
It's never just about the dress
A bespoke wedding dress isn't simply something you wear to walk down the aisle.
It's how you see yourself.
How you feel in your body.
How you take up space.
How you tell the world: this is me.
Whether your vision is gothic, whimsical, opulent, rebellious or gloriously unconventional, my job is to turn that vision into something you can actually wear and feel utterly magnificent in.

I've been sketching dresses since I was about 13.
Growing up surrounded by Dynasty, supermodels and unapologetic glamour, fashion became my creative escape, particularly when I felt like I didn't quite fit in elsewhere.
And, frankly, that never really changed.

Over the years I found my people in alternative, gothic and rave communities: creative, individual, welcoming people who weren't afraid to express themselves. That's where I learned to stop trying to fit the mould.

Additionally, I’ve always had a compulsion to reinvent the wheel. If there’s an established way of doing something, I immediately wonder if there’s a more exciting version. Maybe the old wheel was never that exciting in the first place. And I think there’s a modern bride who wants something better, something that feels like her.

That’s what I bring to my bridalwear: curiosity, technical expertise and a healthy refusal to do things simply because that’s how bridalwear is done.
What Qualifies Me to Make Your Wedding Dress?
I have a degree in Fashion and have spent my career working within the fashion industry as a creative pattern cutter, working across different levels of the industry, from high-street fashion to designer brands.

I began edging towards bridalwear in 2000, bringing together my experience in pattern cutting, garment construction, fit and design with my love of creating extraordinary gowns.
That professional experience is at the heart of my bespoke bridalwear today: fashion expertise, technical know-how and couture craftsmanship.
So I Built the Bridalwear I Couldn't Find
Through all these experiences, I created Caroline Versallion Bridal Couture to give alternative brides something I once struggled to find myself: representation, individuality and the freedom to choose something extraordinary.​

No bland, standardised bridalwear. No forcing yourself into someone else's idea of what a bride should look like.

Just thoughtful, beautifully made gowns designed around your body, your personality and your vision.
I want my brides to feel considered. Included. Powerful.

And when they look back at their wedding photographs years from now, I want them to see someone who didn't make themselves smaller to fit the occasion.
